Dr Vasudeva Rao was born into a family of music and since childhood has been interested in Hindustani music. His passion to learn Hindustani Music eventually took him to his great guru Ustad Shujaat Khan. Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan's family tree can be traced back to the 17 century. He is the son of the illustrious Ustad Vilayat Khan who has given Indian instrumental music the Gayaki Ang. Gayaki Ang literally means vocal style, which is a historical contribution of Ustad Vilayat Khan and has transformed the present and future of Indian instrumental music. Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan is today spreading the music of the Gharana throughout the world of music. This makes him the seventh generation of an unbroken chain of musicians.
