Tarit Sarkar is a Kathak classical dancer who has been learning and performing the dance form for over 15 years. He began his dancing career with Smt. Kankana Nath Dasgupta and is now pursuing Kathak dance under the guidance of Guru Shri Pandit Sandip Bose (Disciple of Padma Vibhusan Pt. Birju Maharaj ji). In 2019, he has secured a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in the field of Kathak Dance. He has also been a part of the Great Indian Musical "Civilisation to Nation" presented by Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, directed by Firoz Abbas Khan and choreographed by Mayuri Upadhyay. He has received several awards such as theAll Jharkhand Music Competition", 2015 and The Dover Lane Music Conference, Kolkata in "Talent Search Contest", 2017. He has performed at some of the major festivals in India such as Navodit Festival, Bhagirath Nritya Utsav, Abhinandanika Festival, Indian Dance Academy, Asian Dance Society and Riwayat Festival among others. Tarit is passionate about Kathak dance and is committed to preserving and promoting the art form. He is a talented dancer and choreographer, and he is also a dedicated teacher. He is an asset to the community of Kathak dancers, and he is sure to continue to make significant contributions to the art form in the years to come.
