Shubhankar Banerjee started learning Hindustani Classical vocal music from his mother Smt. Rina Banerjee. Later he received taalim in Shastriya Sangeet from Smt. Sudipa Bhaduri and Shri Ardhendu Das. He is currently under the tutelage of Shri Anol Chatterjee, disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakroborty. Shubhankar also teaches the art form to students in Kolkata. He has done his Masters in Hindustani Classical Vocal music from Rabindra Bharati University.
