An accomplished dancer, Shamshur is traditionally trained in Tanjore style of Bharatnatyam Classical dance under the able tutelage of Padma Bhushan Guru Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan. He has been awarded by many institutions and associations for his contribution to the field of dance. He has choreographed many beautiful ballets which have been appreciated not only by the masses but also by the critics. Besides being an established classical dancer, he is also engaged in teaching dance since 2000 to preserve, propagate and promote this sacred art form among the next generation. Under his able guidance, his students have won numerous awards and honours at prestigious events and have also been awarded by the Government of India on numerous occasions. He is also the founder of a classical dance institution in Lucknow called Swarn Hans Nritya Kala Mandir. Shamshur has performed on all the prestigious platforms in India. Some of these include the Sangeet Natak Academy, Delhi, the Common Wealth Opening Ceremony, New Delhi, Kalidas Mahotsav, Ujjain and the Lucknow Mahotsav among many others.
