Rudraprasad Swain is an accomplished Odissi classical dancer known for his exceptional talent and dedication to the art form. He holds an M.Phil in Odissi Dance from Utkal University of Culture, Odisha. Rudraprasad showcased prodigious talent from an early stage. He later pursued Odissi under the tutelage of the legendary Padmashree Guru Sri Gangadhar Pradhan. His training was further enriched under Guru Yudhisthir Nayak and Padmashree Guru Smt. Aruna Mohanty, shaping him into a versatile and dynamic performer. He has performed at prestigious festivals such as the Kalinga Kala Utsav, Konark Dance and Music Festival, Umang Festival, and Nishagandhi Dance Festival among others. He has also represented Indian culture abroad at events like the 14th International Dance and Music Festival in Bangkok, the Days of India Festival in Germany, and during a 12-day China tour. Rudraprasad has also embraced the role of an educator, serving as a guest faculty at the Centre for World Music and Related Arts (USA) and as a faculty member at the Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar. Currently, he is focused on solo performances and choreography, continuing to explore new dimensions within Odissi. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Junior and Senior National Scholarships from the Ministry of Culture, the Nrutyashree Award by Devadasi Nrutya Mandir, and the Debaprasad Das Smruti Samman by Kedarnath Gabesana Kendra. In 2023, he was honored as a 'B-grade' artiste of Doordarshan, further cementing his status as an esteemed figure in the world of Odissi.
