Dr. Mansi Saxena is a distinguished Kathak artist from Punjab, known for her exceptional artistry and scholarly contributions to the field of Indian classical dance. A dedicated disciple of Pt. Rajender Gangani ji and Dr. Jagmohan Sharma ji, she holds a Post Diploma from Kathak Kendra, New Delhi. She further refined her performance skills as a repertory artist for two years with the eminent Kathak exponent Aditi Mangaldas and for three years with the renowned Kathak artist Shovana Narayan. She holds the rare distinction of being the first female Kathak artist from Punjab and Haryana to be graded ‘A’ by Delhi Doordarshan and the first to be empanelled by ICCR from both states. She is also the first Kathak artist from the region to receive the prestigious National Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. An accomplished performer, she has showcased her art at prominent national festivals such as the Konark Festival, Khajuraho Festival, Elephanta Festival, Alva’s Virasat, Kathak Mahotsav, Chakradhar Mahotsav, and Taj Mahotsav. Her international performances span countries including Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Japan, Dubai, and Indonesia. With her group, she has also participated in esteemed cultural events like Surajkund Mela (Faridabad), Bharat Parv (Delhi), Rangla Punjab (Amritsar), Raas Vilas (Jodhpur), AWWA Lit Fest (Jaipur), Kathak Samagam (Ambala), and CSNA Festival (Chandigarh). As a committed Guru, Dr. Saxena has trained numerous students who have actively participated in cultural programs and youth festivals and are now contributing to reputed educational institutions. She is the founder and an eminent member of the registered cultural society SVADHA, which has been promoting classical arts among youth in Punjab for over 12 years through collaborations with prestigious organizations such as Sangeet Natak Akademi, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi (CSNA), North Zone Cultural Centre, Sanskar Bharati, and the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs, along with the Youth Welfare Department, Patiala. She holds a Ph.D. in Kathak on the topic “Impact of Globalization on Kathak” and has authored two books, along with publishing several research articles in reputed journals and presenting papers at numerous national and international seminars and conferences.
