Born in a family of renowned legendary classical musicians such as late Pandit Hanuman Prasad Mishra, late Pandit Gopal Mishra, late Pandit Mithhu Lal Mishra and Pandit Loknath Mishra, he grew up in a musical ambience and rich cultural heritage of the historical city of Kashi, Varanasi. His father Shri Dinanath Mishra is a renowned tabla artiste and is highly respected in the classical music fraternity. Avinash started learning music from the age of 4 from the legendary Pandit Hanuman Prasad Mishra and is now under the able guidance of his maternal grandfathers Padma Bhushan Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra, who belong to the famous Benaras Gharana. A graduate from the PGDAV College, Dehradun, Avinash is also a 5th grade vocalist and prabhakar in vocal music from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Avinash Mishra has been teaching Hindustani Classical vocal music for the last 12 years at the Viraam Gurukul in Dehradun. He has performed across various major festivals of music in the country. He has performed at the Hardhotsav at Delhi and Varanasi as well as the Sangeet Vidyapeeth in Kolkata. He is also the recipient of the Brahmadhyanam Award.
