Arupa Lahiry is a Bharatnatyam dancer, a researcher and an art content strategist. She started her journey from Kolkata and learnt Bharatnatyam for 17 years in Chennai under the tutelage of her guru, Smt. Chitra Visweswaram. She is a soloist of reckon performing nationally and internationally, including platforms such as Musee Guimet, Center Mandapa, Opera de Lille, France, Living Arts Centre, Toronto and Theatre De La Ville, Mexico among others. She is a Graded Bharatnatyam artiste of Delhi Doordarshan. She is also empanelled with ICCR and is a recipient of Sringar Mani title from Mumbai. Arupa has also been awarded two prestigious fellowships from TATA and Ministry of Culture, Government of India to work on various facets of the art. As a researcher she has worked on mapping and archiving rare folk art forms for Folklogue Studio in association with British Council of India. Her performances include the Khajuraho Festival, Kumbh Mahotsav and Kalidas Samaroh among others. She has also performed across Mexico, UAE, Sri Lanka, USA, UK, Australia, Germany, Canada, Singapore and Malaysia.
