Arpita is a dedicated Kathak enthusiast who started her training at an early age of 5 under the tutelage of Nritya Shiromani Guru Bandana Sen and Nrityavilas Suchandra Banerjee in Kolkata. Along with her practical training in Kathak, she always had an immense interest to acquire knowledge about the history of Kathak and attained several degrees including degrees of Visharad BA, Alankar MA and Shiksha Visharad B.Ed. in Kathak from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Maharashtra. This is one of the oldest and renowned establishments for performing arts in India. She has been fortunate to learn under renowned personalities such as Late Pt. Birju Maharaj, Rani Khanam, Maulik Bhai Shah and Ishira Shah, Late Pt. Arjun Mishra and many more guru's and she has travelled the USA, Canada, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Mauritius for various performances and workshops. Arpita has received honourable reviews and several awards from various critics and senior dancers for her outstanding footwork, beautiful Angshudhhi, traditional techniques and graceful Abhinaya and is currently working as an empanelled solo Kathak Dancer under the ICCR, Govt. Of India.
