Born on May 27th 1995 in Asansol, Arghya belongs to a family of musicians and was initiated into Hindustani Vocal music by his mother Smt. Aditi Chakraborty. Later he continued his training under several gurus including Shri Pradip Karmakar, Shri Anal Chatterjee and Shri Jayanta Pandey. He is currently receiving the training of Patiala gayaki from the illustrious gurus Pandit Shantanu Bhattarcharyya and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty in Kolkata. Arghya has numerous performances in various cities in India to his credit including Kolkata, Dehradun, Delhi, Chakradharpur, Indore, Jamshedpur, Agartala, Chittagong (Bangladesh), Latur and Mumbai. He stood 1st in the All India Railway music competition in the year 2008 in Khayal and 2nd in 2009 in the same category. In 2014, he won the 2nd position in All India Radio music competition in Khayal. He is a B high graded artist of All India Radio, Kolkata. He has done his graduation in Vocal music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. At present he is pursuing his MA in vocal music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
