Amit Kumar Rath initiated his training in Hindustani Classical music privately under the able guidance of his father Gurushree Pt. Harihar Rath of Gwalior Gharana. He has received 9 awards from Dr. Prabha Atre of Mumbai on behalf of the ABGMV Mandal, Mumbai for securing the highest distinction in his music education. Amit Kumar Rath has performed for all the prestigious festivals of the country and has received many awards including the Gayanacharya Ramakrushna Bua Bajhe Puraskar, Hari Om Trust (Gayan) Pratham Puraskar, Laxmibai Gangadhar Kadethanakar Puraskar, Prof. Vasudev Chintamani Baghmare Puraskar and many more.
